While fans across the country were still mourning, right-wing voices started flooding social media feeds and news channels, blaming the players for being "anti-American" and "anti-woman," and criticizing them not for their play on the pitch, but for what they stood for. Alex Abad-Santos is a senior correspondent at Vox and author of the recent piece, "The right-wing backlash against the US women’s national soccer team, explained."
